Greater Holiday Little League Information

 

GHLL offers baseball divisions for players who are Little League ages 4-16! All registered and eligible players will be placed on a team regardless of experience or ability.  

Participants will be required to bring their own equipment to play:
Helmets: Helmet must be in good condition with no missing padding or cracks and must have a NOCSAE certification
Face Guards: Face guards on helmets are required through the AA Machine Pitch division. 
Bats:         All bats must have a USA Baseball designation to be used through the Majors division. 50/70, Juniors and Seniors    may use BBCOR bats.
Cup: All male players at all levels must wear a protective cup.
Cleats: Players are required to have cleats without metal spikes.
Clothing: Spring Baseball: full uniforms will be provided with registration including hat, jersey, pants, socks & belt.
Fall Baseball: only hat and jersey will be provided with registration.

The introduction to Little League Baseball for youth players. Players will begin learning the fundamentals of the game such as throwing, fielding, base running and batting with a tee. Coaches are on the field at all times providing instruction. Practices will be 1 weeknight for 1 hour. Games are played Saturday mornings or early afternoon.

Players will continue to develop their fundamental skills on a smaller field. Coaches will pitch to the players at this level. Players should show the ability to catch a thrown ball at times and be comfortable swinging the bat decisively. Most rules of the game will start being applied at this level. Coaches will remain in the field to provide instruction. Practices will be 1 weeknight for 1 hour. Games are played Saturday mornings or early afternoon. 
Machine Pitch (AA)

7-8

Play begins on the regulation Little League fields. Players should be comfortable throwing, catching and batting the ball in play most of the time. The games will utilize a pitching machine in addition to some players pitching to batters. Coaches will remain on the field to provide instruction and enforce the rules of the game. Some tournament and interleague play may be involved. Practices are typically on Monday evenings for 90 minutes with games on Saturdays.

The introduction to competitive Little League Baseball. Players will begin pitching to batters from a 46 foot distance and umpires will oversee the games.  Most teams will begin participation in tournament play. All players must attend a player evaluation and teams will be assembled via player draft in the Spring and by the league in Fall. Expect 1-2 weekly practices with most games on Saturdays. 
Little League Majors

The highest level of Little League Baseball. It is required that players have 2 seasons of AAA experience prior to placement in Majors. Most teams will participate in tournament play. All players must attend a player evaluation and teams are assembled via player draft in Spring and remain on their teams throughout their time in Majors. Expect 1-2 weekly practices with most games on weeknights. 
Intermediate (50/70)

Players will play on a transitional field between little league and Juniors with a base path distance of 70 feet and pitching rubber distance of 50 feet from home plate. BBCOR bats are now encouraged for use. This division has a high level of competition and will play against other leagues in District 12.
